Knowing How to Eat

Growing up our parents have us on a eating retrial and we have to eat when mom cooks. Depending on the family size you could eat two plates if the family was big, a buffet if their only a few family members. But the question is what meal do we consume the most food? Most people will say dinner, a few would say lunch, and a few would say breakfast, but our healthiest meal is breakfast. This is because when we wake up and we eat a healthy bit breakfast that will be our energy source, nutrition source, and mental source for the day until lunch. For lunch we're supposed to eat a good sandwich maybe a subway sandwich, but eat a huge lunch isn't healthy, because our bodies are still going off of breakfast. Meaning when dinner comes around we can eat a good plate of food, but not as much as breakfast. Growing up eating breakfast woke my mind and body up. Our mental force will be a lot stronger with a great breakfast. Because the carb (energy) that we consume gives us energy while the sugar energizes the mind, and the fruits and vegetables which are healthy for our brains. A good breakfast fuels you up and gets you ready for your day. The article, Why Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day says that, “The consumption of an early morning snack increases the metabolic rate (how fast you burn calories) and kick starts your body into gear, telling it what to expect the rest of the day. If breakfast isn't had, your body doesn't process your next meal as quickly and tries to hold onto those nutrients. Since it didn't get any morning fuel, it tries to hold onto the afternoon meal as long as possible instead of burning it right away.” Also test have shown that those who skip breakfast have a tendency to consume more food than usual the next chance they get to grab a bite to eat and also have a high tendency to snack on high-calorie foods. When we skip out on breakfast we’ll tend to eat more at lunch to satisfy our hunger and we’ll tend to over eat. Demine Stracker’s article Why Breakfast Really Is the Most Important Meal states that, “Many teens skip breakfast as an attempt to control this excess weight gain yet previous studies have shown that individuals who consume breakfast daily have a lower body mass index (BMI) than those who skip the meal.  Missing out on those vital calories in the morning may contribute to overeating later in the day, selecting unhealthy snacks due to uncontrolled hunger and therefore foster weight gain.” As a result of eat correctly we’ll see our metabolism change, our energy levels increasing, and the amount of food consumed in a day will decline. Breakfast should be treated like our nutrition and medicine for the body to be healthy.

  1. WoW I feel horrible because i Rarely eat breakfast. I always skip it because i feel i never have time especially when i have 8 o'clock classes. Your post explains that your mental force can be stronger if i eat breakfast and give you energy. This explains why in my morning classes I'm less attentive are sleepy. Now I realize that maybe i need to start waking up at 7 and eating breakfast. Its healthy and it seems like it will make my day go alot smoother. Great Blog!

  2. I will be posting another blog that deals with fitness and how much that helps us focus, but I feel as if we all miss breakfast. We need to understand that a simple banana with some orange juice can get the mind going especially a drinks that have a good amount of sugar, but not too much.

  3. I like the format of your blog; it's very light, and I like the background and how it relates really well to your posts. Thanks for talking about breakfast; everybody says it's the 'most important meal of the day' but I don't think most people really believe that. You have the research to prove it!

  4. Eating breakfast always make me hungry all day long though. I know its healthy and helps with me being attentive in class but how can I be focusing when my stomach starts growling at me in the middle of it? I don't usually have time during the day to grab anything to eat. However! I will try now. The set up of your blog is very inviting by the way.

    1. Try eating eggs, sausage, oatmeal, because they'll fill you up quicker. And sometimes your mind will play games with you and if you eat a huge breakfast and also drink a cup of pomegranate juice which is great for the brain. You'll focus a lot more

  5. I'm in the same boat as Donald, I NEVER eat breakfast, and I feel bad now. :( I just don't eat breakfast because I am always running late in the morning. Hopefully, soon I'll become more responsible, and I'll start waking up in time to actually grab a quick and healthy breakfast. . .My eating habits in college have been very poor (Sometimes I don't even eat until dinner. Yikes!) And I think a blog post on how to eat healthy when you're on the go would be really helpful to me! Just food for thought. :) Love the blog! Keep it up!

  7. I have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but like many others I do not eat breakfast due to the fact that I have class so early in the morning. So do you have any other alternatives that would be nice to quickly eat in the morning before class, that is nutritional and would give me the same energy intake as a full course breakfast

  8. If I have time, I eat breakfast but most of the time I'm running late. I was able to eat a big breakfast this morning but it was not healthy. I always say that I will make time for breakfast and I will after graduation.
